The way we breath impacts our state of stress strongly. The diaphragm is the only organ in the body that is skeletal muscle designed for voluntary movement, You can immediately take control of the diaphragm so therefore, breathing represents the bridge between the conscious and unconscious control of the body! If you can get your breathing to leave a stressed state, the rest of the parts of your autonomic nervous system will follow suit, creating a chain reaction that can help reduce stress, anxiety and related problems
According to Dr. Patricica Gerbarg, the co author of "The Healing Power of the Breath", slowing the breath down can regulate the nervous system and help calm a person's body and mind. One of the explanations for the way in which slowing the breathing rate affects the entire body is related to the role of the Vagus nerve, also known as the wandering nerve. The Vagus Nerve is a winding cranial nerve branching out of the brain and innervating the heart, lungs and digestive tract which are all part of the autonomic nervous system
I attended several of Sarah classes and I can not begin to tell you, how much they help. Who would of thought how you breathe can make such a difference to how you feel both mentally and physically!
It has made me see how important it is to look after yourself and that doing what is we do every day when we breathe normally in a more controlled way can really help us to switch our minds off and Improve our health at the same time.
Sarah is very knowledgeable in all aspects of this and explains so well how the breathing techniques help. She has a calm and relaxing voice that enables you to switch off and take that all important time for you!!!

Sarah delivers a fantastic breathing and meditation class. I've attended several of her classes and each time could feel the benefits of breathing correctly and I have been known to doze off.
